Ze kenmerken zich met name door korte openings- en uithardingstijden. Dit type smeltlijm wordt veelal in de vorm van kaarsen gebruikt met behulp van hete lijmpistolen en wordt bijvoorbeeld gebruikt voor assemblage verlijming.
